Learn how to can with summer fruit. We’ll make apricot jam, apricot chutney and strawberry jam in this hands-on class.  Take home a jar of each and know how to get started canning at home.  It’s actually easy once you know the process and have the equipment.

California is blessed with an abundance of fresh fruit and vegetables. Apricots have always been one of instructor Marinda Freeman’s favorites. Canning apricots has to be done when the fruit is ready – which is June! She has developed a long-time relationship with a family farm she met at the Corte Madera Farmers Market years ago to order her fruit. Apricot jam is the taste of summer whenever you open a jar. Apricot chutney is great as an hors d’oeuvre with goat cheese and crackers, or an accompaniment to chicken or turkey. Strawberry jam with a bit of lemon is good anytime. Come have fun learning to can and make delicious items filled with that secret ingredient—love!
